Aid obtained for the digitalization of the water cycle in 70 municipalities
Farmers of the Vega de Valencia has obtained together with the Provincial Council of Alicante and Ciclagua a grant of 8,206,240.57 million euros from European funds Next Generation within the Strategic Projects for Recovery and Economic Transformation (Perte).
The funded project «Alicante Intelligent Water» has a plan of action for improving digitization and efficiency in the management of the integral water cycle, from collection to final discharge and aims to reuse regenerated water in urban uses.
The initiative is aimed at 70 municipalities in the province, including 59 municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, of which 15 are at risk of depopulation and which total more than 250,000 people. The aim is to apply advances in water treatment and revegetation in sewage plants of different sizes, on the path of circular economy and zero discharge, while promoting a very important water saving.
As for the action plan of the project, it has multiple actions which are 10 emergency plans for drought and two floods, 13 new health plans, 54 updates of self-control protocols and health plans, 20 master plans for sanitation, 41 plans to promote the use of regenerated water, 50 leak management studies or 43 local and regional hydrogeological surveys.
This project is part of SAV’s initiatives to promote the use and recycling of resources through its EDARS (Waste Water Treatment Plants).
